Candidates for Groom at the 2025 Federal Elections

The countdown is on for the 2025 Federal Election, and Groom voters are set to make their voices heard. With six candidates already in the race, the Toowoomba region is gearing up for a competitive contest. Here’s who’s standing and what you need to know before 3 May.

So far, the following candidates have nominated for the Groom electorate:

Candidates have until midday on Thursday, 10 April to officially nominate, so more names may still be added.

Voting for Groom will use compulsory preferential voting. Voters must number every box on the ballot paper in order of preference, beginning with ‘1’ beside their top choice.

Key dates to remember:

  • Monday, 7 April (by 8pm) – Deadline for voter enrolment

  • Thursday, 10 April (12 noon) – Nominations close

  • Friday, 11 April (midday) – Formal declaration of candidates

  • Tuesday, 22 April – Early voting begins

  • Wednesday, 30 April (by 6pm) – Postal vote applications close

  • Saturday, 3 May – Election Day

In addition to voting for the House of Representatives, Queenslanders will also help elect six new Senators in the half-Senate election.
