Major upgrades complete on the Cunningham Highway

What’s happening?

Safety upgrades on the Cunningham Highway between Warwick and Inglewood are now complete. The Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads carried out the project along a 100-kilometre section from Lyndhurst Lane at Warwick to the Millmerran–Inglewood Road intersection at Inglewood. Works began in May 2025 and finished in November 2025.

The upgrade package included road widening, removal of roadside hazards, intersection upgrades and installation of double barrier line marking. The project was delivered under the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety Program.

Why it matters?

The aim of the works was to reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury crashes along this busy stretch. The improvements focus on safer road edges, clearer intersections and stronger separation between traffic streams.

Transport and Main Roads Regional Director for Southern Queensland, Bill Lansbury, said the upgrades were focused on crash reduction.
“Improvements have included road widening, removal of roadside hazards, intersection upgrades and installation of double barrier line marking,” Mr Lansbury said.
He added his thanks to residents, saying, “We would like to thank the community for their patience as we carried out these safety improvements.”
