What’s happening?

Grand Central has confirmed extended seasonal trading to help shoppers prepare for Christmas.

The centre says the change is aimed at giving customers more flexibility during the busy festive period, especially those finishing gift shopping or planning food purchases.

Centre Manager Tracey Ford said the longer hours are designed to reduce pressure across the lead-up to Christmas.

“Our extended Christmas shopping trade hours give our community more time to shop for those last-minute gifts – or for those unexpected extra guests at their upcoming Christmas events,” she said.

Why it matters

The final days before Christmas are often the most stressful for shoppers.

Longer opening hours give customers more choice about when to shop, helping ease crowds and last-minute pressure.

“By opening our doors for longer in December we hope to ease the stress of Christmas shopping throughout the region,” Ms Ford said.

Local impact

Extended trading supports local retailers during their busiest period of the year.

Fresh food retailers at Grand Central are also offering pre-booking options, helping families plan ahead for holiday meals and gatherings.

  • Christmas Eve trading will continue into the early evening, before a public holiday begins later that night.
