Tatts Hotel sells for $6.2 million

Tatts Hotel

Toowoomba’s oldest pub, the Tatts Hotel, will soon have new owners.

The hotel, which has been one of the city’s landmark watering holes since it was built in 1883, has sold for $6.2 million in a deal that is due to settle early next month.

Featuring more than a 1000sqm of entertainment space, Tatts was sold through agent Scott Williams, of SGW Hotels.

Mr Williams said the hotel’s sale attracted interest from buyers both locally and nationally.

The 753sqm property at 180 Margaret Street is considered a prime site because it sits in the heart of Toowoomba’s retail and business precinct.

Originally known as the Tattersall’s Hotel, the pub was designed by legendary architect James Marks and has undergone several renovations since that time.

The hotel, which had been owned by Barry and Christina Scarborough since 2021, has been extensively renovated in the past 10 years.

The pub has been a mainstay of the city’s live music scene.
