What’s happening?
The Asbestos Disease Support Society will kick off its 2026 Morning Tea Seminar series in Toowoomba.
The free community event is designed to raise awareness about asbestos and hazardous dust exposure. It will be held in a relaxed setting and includes a complimentary morning tea.
ADSS is inviting Toowoomba residents and people from surrounding communities to attend, whether they want information, have concerns about past exposure, or simply want to learn how to stay safe.
Why it matters
Asbestos and dust-related diseases often develop many years after exposure, which means people may not realise they are at risk.
ADSS Chair Trevor Torrens said the impacts continue to be felt strongly in regional communities.
“Asbestos and dust diseases continue to impact regional communities, often many years after exposure,” Mr Torrens said.
“This is an opportunity to learn how exposure occurs, who may be at risk, and what support is available for anyone affected by these serious illnesses.”
Local impact
The seminar brings specialist knowledge and support directly to the Toowoomba community.
It gives locals the chance to hear clear information about asbestos, silica and dust exposure, and to connect with a long-standing support organisation at no cost.
