Truck crash marks black day for city

A fatal crash involving two trucks on the Toowoomba Bypass marked the third shock death in Toowoomba within 24 hours.

Emergency services were called to attend the truck crash at 12.15am Wednesday after two trucks travelling east collided, causing one to catch fire.

One of the drivers, a man aged in his 40s, died. The other driver,  a 50-year old Ravenshoe man, was uninjured.

The Toowoomba Bypass eastbound lanes were closed for hours while the crash site was cleared while police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision to contact police.

Meanwhile a man died in a workplace accident at Wellcamp. Emergency crews were called to the Heinemann Road site at 6pm after a man was crushed.

And in a third horror incident, an 81-year-old man died in a house fire in Drayton. Emergency crews reportedly performed CPR on the pensioner but he was declared dead shortly afterwards.
