Weekend Table blooms in Toowoomba

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

What’s happening?

Weekend Table will return as one of the main food experiences in this year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

The program will turn the Toowoomba Region into a series of shared dining events across some of the area’s most scenic venues. Guests can dine aboard a restored railway carriage, enjoy dinner among the vines, sit down for a country pub lunch or take part in hands-on food and floral workshops.

This year’s program includes crowd favourites from last year’s successful line-up, along with new additions and elevated experiences.

New events include Weekend Table at DownsSteam, a six-course feast under the stars at Aberfeldy Barn and the debut of Bubbles & Buttercream at Laurel Bank Park.

Each experience will feature intimate seatings, curated menus and a floral flourish. The format gives visitors a chance to slow down, connect and enjoy the best of the region.

Why it matters?

Weekend Table has become a key part of the Carnival program because it combines local produce, regional venues and shared experiences.

Toowoomba Regional Council Tourism portfolio spokesperson Councillor James O’Shea said the program continues to evolve as one of Carnival’s most exciting experience-led offerings.

“Weekend Table is all about bringing people together around incredible local produce, beautiful regional venues and memorable shared experiences,” Cr O’Shea said.

“What makes it so special is the diversity. One moment you’re dining in a century-old country pub, the next you’re enjoying a sunset amongst the vines or sitting inside a beautifully restored heritage train carriage.”

Local Impact

The program gives local venues, producers, wineries, distillers and hospitality operators a bigger place in the Carnival calendar.

It also encourages visitors to spend time across the Toowoomba Region, not only in the city’s main Carnival spaces. Country pubs, vineyards, heritage rail sites, cafes and private rural venues all form part of the 2026 line-up.

Owners and operators across the region say the program continues to highlight local hospitality, storytelling and regional charm.

At Cambooya, the Bull & Barley Inn will host a relaxed long lunch celebrating local producers and Rusty Mill Distillery whiskies.

Sue Haughey from Bull & Barley Inn said the event reflects the warmth and honesty of regional Queensland.

“There’s something really special about gathering around a table in a country pub and sharing local food, local stories and local spirits,” she said.

By The Numbers

  • Weekend Table will run from 2 to 5 October, placing the dining program across the final long weekend of Carnival.
  • Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers runs from 18 September to 5 October 2026, giving visitors more than two weeks of spring events.
  • Aberfeldy Barn will host a six-course shared dining experience, while Relish Cafe will offer a grazing workshop for just 10 guests.

One of the standout new experiences is Weekend Table at DownsSteam.

Guests will begin with floral arranging before sitting down to a three-course dining experience aboard the restored Lady MacGregor railway carriage. The meal will be paired with wines from Stanthorpe’s Heritage Estate.

Chair of DownsSteam Ros Scotney said the event creates a rare way to share the region’s history, food and wine.

“Dining inside a beautifully restored heritage railway carriage is something people simply don’t experience every day,” she said.

“Combining that with incredible local produce, wine and floral creativity makes for a really memorable experience.”

Aberfeldy Barn will also make its Weekend Table debut with a six-course shared dining experience under the stars. The dinner will be paired with award-winning Ballandean Estate Wines and set among the rolling countryside of the Darling Downs.

Cass Daniels from Aberfeldy Barn said the program fits growing demand for regional experiences that feel personal.

“People are looking for experiences that feel personal, beautiful and memorable and that’s exactly what we will deliver this year as part of Weekend Table,” she said.

“To be able to welcome guests onto the property for an evening of mouth-watering food, wine and connection under the stars is something we’re really excited to be part of.”

Rosalie House will return to the program with a Mediterranean-inspired grazing dinner at sunset. Guests will settle among the vines for an evening focused on food, wine and the spring setting.

For smaller groups, Relish Cafe will host one of the most intimate experiences in the program. Its grazing workshop will teach 10 guests how to create styled grazing boxes using produce sourced from regional suppliers.

Bubbles & Buttercream will add a sweet new layer to Weekend Table. The new event will bring French Champagne and floral cake decorating together in the surrounds of Laurel Bank Park.

Guests will learn the art of floral cake decorating and create edible pieces almost too pretty to eat. The event is being tipped as one of this year’s breakout experiences.

Special guest host Renee Jarrett from Daisy Cakes and Bakes said the new event brings together creativity, connection and Carnival spirit.

“There’s something simply joyful about flowers, Champagne and cake decorating all coming together in one experience,” she said.

“We wanted to create something playful, creative and beautifully immersive, where guests can relax, learn new skills and leave with something they’re genuinely proud of. It’s the kind of experience people will book with friends, mums, sisters or partners and talk about long after Carnival is over.”

Weekend Table is part of the broader Tasting Tours program, which will also return in 2026.

● Sip & Stroll cocktail experiences through the city
● Cork & Walk hosted wine tours
● Pint Pursuit pub adventures, where drinks of all kinds are on the menu!

Cr O’Shea said demand for the program continues to grow year-on-year.

“These experiences sell because they’re genuinely unique. Weekend Table gives visitors access to places, people and flavours they may never otherwise discover,” he said.

“It’s a celebration of our region’s hospitality, creativity and community spirit, and there’s truly nothing else like it during Carnival season.”

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is supported by the Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland.
