Darling Downs truck operators have a final chance to seek practical advice before major national freight laws change.
NatRoad’s free Regional Trucking Forum will be held in Toowoomba on Thursday, 30 July, two days before the reforms begin.
Operators can hear from regulators, meet industry representatives and discuss the issues affecting freight businesses across the region.

The forum will offer practical guidance on applying the reforms to daily operations. Operators can also ask questions, share experiences and hear directly from industry specialists.
NatRoad CEO Warren Clark said the current conditions made industry connections more important.
“Road freight businesses continue to face significant pressures, from rising operating costs through to an increasing number of regulatory changes,” Mr Clark said.

Regional operators often have fewer opportunities to meet regulators and industry representatives close to home.
Holding the forum in Toowoomba gives Darling Downs businesses direct access to advice without travelling to a capital city. It also gives operators space to raise issues specific to the region.
“For many operators, particularly regional areas, it can feel like you’re tackling those challenges on your own,” Mr Clark said.
“Our forums are about bringing people together to share experiences, ask questions and get practical information to help navigate what’s happening in the industry.”

- The forum will run for two hours, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
- Significant Heavy Vehicle National Law changes will take effect on Saturday, 1 August, two days after the forum.

The NatRoad Toowoomba Regional Trucking Forum will be held at Fitzy’s Toowoomba, 153 Margaret Street.
The event is free for trucking operators, although registration is essential through the NatRoad event page.
Discussions will focus on the upcoming legal changes and practical ways to introduce Safety Management Systems. Operators will also have time to connect with others working across the regional freight sector.
“The conversations at each forum are shaped by what’s most important to operators in that region,” Mr Clark said.

The Toowoomba gathering forms part of NatRoad’s series of regional forums across Australia.
The series gives operators outside metropolitan areas access to current industry information and local professional connections.
NatRoad is Australia’s largest and only national association for road freight operators. The not-for-profit organisation is governed by its members and works with governments, regulators and industry partners.
Its work includes advocacy, business support and industry advice for operators ranging from sole traders to national fleets.
