What’s Happening?
The Grand Bunnies have returned to Grand Central, with local school students giving the familiar figures a floral makeover. Their large artworks celebrate the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, drawing on flowers, nature, community and creativity.
Why It Matters
The project gives young people a place in the carnival celebrations while recognising the creativity within Toowoomba’s schools. By voting for their favourite design, residents can support those students and help their schools secure cash prizes.
Local Impact
Each Grand Bunny tells its own story, bringing the work of Toowoomba’s next generation of artists into the shopping centre. Visitors can see this student artwork in Centre Court from Friday 4 September until 19 September.
By the Numbers
- A total of $8,000 will be shared by the three winning schools, with first place receiving $5,000.
- The school in second place will receive $2,000 based on community votes for its Grand Bunny design.
- The school finishing third will receive $1,000, completing the cash prizes available through the Grand Bunnies competition.

Grand Central Marketing Manager Sara Kenealy said the Grand Bunnies School Project celebrated both local young people and the carnival.
“We’re proud to hand the creative power to local students and give them the opportunity to be part of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers celebrations at Grand Central,” she said. “The Grand Bunnies project highlights the incredible creativity within our schools while creating a fun and interactive experience our community.”

Grand Central is celebrating its 30th year of involvement with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. The bunnies’ return coincides with that milestone, the centre’s 30th birthday celebrations and free school holiday fun.
What To Look For Next?
After their Centre Court display, the Grand Bunnies will move throughout the centre until Monday 5 October. Visitors will have further opportunities to see each design, with upcoming event details available on Grand Central’s website.
