What’s Happening?
Applications are now open for the Queensland Government’s 2027 Celebrating Reconciliation Grants Program, inviting organisations to apply for funding to hold community events during National Reconciliation Week.
The program supports activities that bring people together and strengthen community connections. Queensland-based organisations have until 18 December 2026 to submit their applications.
Why It Matters
The grants encourage communities to take an active role in reconciliation through events that promote cultural understanding, respect and inclusion.
In particular, the program aims to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Queenslanders. These community-led initiatives also support social cohesion and meaningful action towards reconciliation.
Local Impact
Community organisations throughout Queensland have an opportunity to seek support for reconciliation activities that encourage participation and cultural connections.
To qualify, applicants must be based in Queensland, with their proposed events also taking place within the state.

Zoom Out
National Reconciliation Week provides an annual opportunity for Australians to reflect on their shared history and take meaningful action towards reconciliation.
The week begins on 27 May, marking the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum. It concludes on 3 June, known as Mabo Day, which commemorates the landmark 1992 High Court Mabo decision.
These historical milestones provide the broader context for the activities supported by the grants program.
