On Thursday, 14 November, Grand Central Shopping Centre, in partnership with Toowoomba Regional Council, will host its annual CBD Tree Lighting event, inviting the community to come together in celebration of the holiday season.

The festivities begin with market stalls in Central Square at 4pm, followed by live entertainment from 5pm on the Community Stage.

Why it Matters?

This event not only signals the start of the festive season in Toowoomba but also brings the community together, creating a shared space for local talent, family-friendly activities, and festive cheer.

Grand Central Marketing Manager Julie Thompson shared her excitement about hosting this annual event, noting, “Christmas is one of the centre’s favourite times of year, and the centre is delighted to host this annual CBD event.”

She added that the 35-foot Christmas tree “takes pride of place in Central Square” and will be illuminated to mark the official start of the season.

The Community Stage will feature a line-up of local talent, including performances from St Saviour’s College, Toowoomba State High School, St Mary’s, and dance school Everdance. Ms. Thompson highlighted the ongoing tradition, saying, “This continues to be a wonderful community tradition and a great way to start the festive season.”
