Toowoomba is set to get a new watering hole after Toowoomba Regional Council approved plans for a new hotel at Blue Mountain Heights.

The council has approved the development of two multi-storey buildings at the intersection of Blue Meadow Court and the New England Highway.

Planning consultancy Aspect lodged the application on the 9255sqm site on behalf of 158 Pty Ltd. The property is currently vacant.

One of the two buildings will be home to a 1659sqm tavern and an adjoining bottleshop. The second building will feature a 1500sqm supermarket and five food tenancies.

The complex will feature basement car parking and a total of more than 140 parking spots to meet the needs of the tenants and customers of both buildings.

The approval, which was granted under delegated authority, was handed down on Tuesday, 2 July.

The hotel has council approval to operate from 10am through to 10pm while two of the five “food and drink outlets” will have approval to open their doors at 6am.
