Donation stations bring Christmas cheer to Toowoomba

Donation Stations for Base Services at Grand Central

What’s Happening?

Starting today, Grand Central Shopping Centre has partnered with Base Services to launch two bright orange, unmanned donation stations for the Base Services Christmas Hamper Food Drive.

Located near Coles and Woolworths, these stations encourage shoppers to donate non-perishable food items for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Why It Matters?

Christmas is a time for giving, and this initiative provides an easy way for the Toowoomba community to support vulnerable individuals during the festive season.

Partnering with Base Services ensures that donations go directly to those who need them most, fostering a sense of community and kindness.

Local Impact

The partnership enables residents to make meaningful contributions to combat food insecurity in the region.

By integrating donation points into the shopping experience, the campaign simplifies giving, ensuring broader participation and support for Base Services’ vital work.

How You Can Help

Supporting the drive is simple.

Community Relations Manager Georgina Bayly said, “We are asking that our community consider donating non-perishable food items like canned food, packet noodles, poppas, UHT milk, and canned tuna during their weekly shop, regardless of what end of the centre they visit.”

These contributions will help provide much-needed hampers for individuals and families this Christmas.

  • Two donation stations are conveniently located near Coles and Woolworths at Grand Central.
  • A variety of non-perishable items—canned food, noodles, and UHT milk—are essential to stock Christmas hampers.
  • Base Services supports hundreds of individuals at risk of homelessness, and this campaign plays a key role in extending their outreach during the holiday season.

Zoom In

Georgina Bayly shared the importance of community involvement, saying, “By unveiling our new bright-orange donation stations, we wanted to be able to share the generosity of our community to those who are homeless or at high-risk of homelessness; and what better way to do that than to partner up with Base Services.”

Zoom Out

This initiative reflects a broader trend of shopping centres collaborating with local organisations to facilitate charitable giving during Christmas.

The partnership between Grand Central and Base Services sets a strong example of how retail spaces can drive positive community impact.

What to Look For Next?

Grand Central will continue to host festive activities and community initiatives throughout December.

Stop by Coles or Woolworths at Grand Central starting today to support this meaningful campaign and spread joy this Christmas.
