Duo face weapons charges

Police have charged two men after stolen guns were found inside a stolen car at Darling Heights last week.

The pair allegedly stole the firearms from a property in Gowrie Junction. Police allege the pair forced entry into the property around 7.30am on Thursday, September 4 and stole firearms, ammunition, knives and a 2022 Ducati motorcycle.

Around 5pm the same day police were conducting inquiries on Nolan Court in Darling Heights when they noticed a 2010 Ford Falcon sedan, which had been stolen from Cleveland address on Monday, September 1.

A search of the vehicle uncovered an amount of stolen property including the firearms.

Police then found the two men in the area and both were taken arrested.

The stolen Ducati motorcycle was later located at a Peters Road address at Meringandan West.

A 19-year-old Wilsonton Heights man has been charged with seven counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and authority required to possess explosives.

A 34-year-old Cunnamulla man has been charged with 10 counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count each of enter dwelling and commit unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs and authority required to possess explosives.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 20 October.
