The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is calling on young people aged between 14 and 24 to apply for the 2025 Youth Leaders Program.
This initiative, which has been operational since 2015, offers a platform for youth to learn about their community, develop leadership skills, and actively participate in local activities.
Applications close on July 31, so act swiftly to be part of this impactful programme.
Empowering Young Voices
Councillor James O’Shea, from TRC’s Community Development, Facilities and Tourism portfolio, emphasises the program’s role in giving youth a voice in local governance.
With nearly 30,000 young people in the Toowoomba Region, the Youth Leaders Program is crucial for ensuring council initiatives are relevant and effective.
Each year, 25 young leaders are selected to advocate for their peers, collaborate with local youth services, and contribute to community projects.
A Proven Track Record
The program has a successful history of youth engagement, from organising events and environmental projects to volunteering at Queensland Youth Week activities.
Participants have also represented the Toowoomba Region at various forums, influencing youth policy at local, state, and national levels. This experience not only enriches the community but also helps shape future leaders.
Your Opportunity to Lead
Eligible candidates must live in the TRC area, be available for monthly meetings, and attend two training camps in September and December 2024.
