What’s happening?
The Gympie Music Muster has announced its first round of artists for the 2025 event, set to take place from 28–31 August 2025 in the picturesque Amamoor Creek State Forest.
The line-up features legendary artists such as Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, Daryl Braithwaite, Fanny Lumsden, and Thirsty Merc, as well as international acts like The Road Hammers from Canada.
The Muster’s Program Director, Bec Anderson, shared her enthusiasm: “We’re particularly looking forward to welcoming back some artists we haven’t seen gracing our stages in a while. We think this will be a bit of a nostalgic experience for our long-term Muster Mates but also something fresh for everyone.”
Why it matters?
The Gympie Music Muster is more than a music festival; it is a long-standing celebration of community, culture, and live music that has brought people together since 1982.
The festival has also raised millions for charity, making it an essential event for the Australian music landscape.
Gympie Music Muster CEO Greg Cavanagh said: “Next year’s Muster is shaping up to be one of our best yet. From legends of many genres to fresh new talent, we’re proud to bring together artists who reflect the diverse and vibrant spirit of country, rock and blues and genres in between.”
Local Impact
The Muster plays a vital role in the Gympie region, attracting thousands of visitors who contribute to the local economy through tourism, hospitality, and retail.
Artists like Thirsty Merc’s Matt Smith, who now calls Gympie home, highlight the personal connections to the community:
“Gympie is my home now, and I love the people and the area. The country crowds are the best crowds in Australia. Local gigs for me are rare these days, so I’m looking forward to inviting the band around to my place for a ‘cuppa’ after the show!”
By the Numbers
- 21: The number of times Troy Cassar-Daley has performed at the Muster, making him the most frequent performer in the festival’s history.
- 43 years: The festival’s longevity was first held in 1982 and is now preparing for its 2025 edition.
- Over $20 million: Funds raised for charity since the Muster’s inception.
Zoom In
Troy Cassar-Daley, a festival favourite, reminisced about his ties to the Muster:
“This festival holds huge personal significance for me with memories of driving all the way from Tamworth to Gympie on the same day in an EH Holden wagon to play my first Muster in 1992… The two shows in 2025 will be big sharing moments of songs that have been like old friends to me.”
Other artists, like Fanny Lumsden, are excited to return:
“We are absolutely thrilled to be coming back to the Muster again in 2025. Camping in the bush, families, friends and country music – honestly, what could be better?”
The Canadian band The Road Hammers is set to make its debut:
“We’re pumped to play the Gympie Muster for our very first time in 2025 – there’s nothing like the energy of the Aussie crowd,” said Jason McCoy.
