Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald is encouraging residents to join Anzac Day commemorations on Thursday.
Honouring the Sacrifice of Past and Present Servicemen and Women
Mr McDonald said Anzac Day was an important time to pause and pay respects to all servicemen and women.
“These services are an important occasion for the city and region to formally remember and reflect on the sacrifice of past generations of servicemen and women from this area,” he said.
“Apart from honouring their selfless deeds, we must remember there is a new generation of men and women who recently have been involved in conflicts in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as other military engagements.”
Cambooya’s Restored Anzac Memorial
Mr McDonald said Cambooya’s commemorations would proceed around the restored Anzac memorial at Cambooya Memorial Park.
However, some Anzac Day services have been postponed until Sunday because of this week’s wet weather.
