Grand Central Joy Bringers spread cheer with gift wrapping service

Gift wrapping at Grand Central

What’s happening?

Grand Central Shopping Centre launched its annual charity gift-wrapping service yesterday, 2 December 2024, with a twist—two charity partners will be part of the festivities.

This year, the Joy Bringers will represent LifeFlight and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, both organisations supporting health causes in the Darling Downs region.

The gift-wrapping booths, located near Myer on Levels 1 and 2, will offer their services daily from 9 am, with extended hours starting Wednesday, 18 December.

Why it Matters

The initiative provides an easy way for shoppers to contribute to life-saving services while ticking off their Christmas to-do list.

LifeFlight and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation both play critical roles in the community, offering emergency care and health services to those in need.

By choosing to have gifts wrapped at these booths, residents are directly supporting the health and wellbeing of their neighbours.

Local Impact

Community Relations Manager Georgina Bayly highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating,
“These volunteers bring the joy to our Christmas celebrations, and by getting your gift wrapped at either booth, you are supporting extremely vital organisations that assist our community in their times of need.”

Funds raised will go towards sustaining these organisations’ essential services, ensuring the Darling Downs community has access to urgent health care and support when it’s needed most.

By the Numbers

  • 2 charity partners—LifeFlight and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation—will benefit from the funds raised.
  • Gift wrapping starts daily from 9 am, with extended hours beginning 18 December.
  • Booths are conveniently located on Level 1 and Level 2, both near Myer, offering ample access to shoppers.

Zoom In

The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation joins this initiative for the first time, leveraging this festive opportunity to raise funds for its programs.

LifeFlight, a returning partner, continues to support its emergency helicopter medical services, which saved over 6,000 lives in Queensland last year.

Zoom Out

Grand Central’s initiative reflects the broader trend of shopping centres integrating charity partnerships into seasonal activities.

This approach strengthens community bonds while making philanthropy an accessible part of everyday life.

What To Look For Next?

Stay tuned for updates on the funds raised and how they’ll be allocated to these life-changing organisations.

Grand Central also invites volunteers to join the Joy Bringers team. Interested parties can learn more and sign up via the Grand Central website at www.grandcentralshopping.com.au.
