What’s happening?

Grand Central’s Centre Court will transform into a retro kitchen to host Grand Chefs, a free and fun-filled cooking workshop series for kids.

Taking place from 13 to 24 January 2025, the workshops will run weekdays from 10am to 1pm, requiring no prior bookings.

Children will have the chance to learn, create, and taste their culinary masterpieces while exploring new flavours and recipes.

Why it Matters?

The Grand Chefs workshops provide an engaging way for kids to beat school holiday boredom while developing their creativity and fostering an interest in healthy eating.

These hands-on experiences encourage self-expression and teamwork, helping to create memorable moments for young food enthusiasts.

Local Impact

Marketing Executive Sara Kenealy highlighted the program’s community focus: “This free workshop will not only beat the school holiday boredom but also see kids learn, make and taste a new recipe to tame their after-school hunger,” she said.

By hosting these events, Grand Central strengthens its role as a hub for family-friendly activities in Toowoomba, supporting local families during the busy holiday season.

By the Numbers:

  • Over 10 days of interactive workshops will be held.
  • Running for 3 hours daily, kids have ample time to immerse themselves in the culinary fun.
  • Featuring 2 unique themes: Shaped Sandwich Creations (Week 1) and Fruity Kebabs (Week 2).

From 13 to 17 January, kids can unleash their creativity during Week 1 by making shaped sandwiches using an array of delicious toppings.

Whether it’s a star-shaped snack or an animal-themed delight, this activity combines fun with healthy eating.

From 20 to 24 January, Week 2 will see kids creating vibrant fruit kebabs, learning to mix and match textures, flavours, and colours to craft tasty and nutritious treats.
