Iconic Business Buildings up for Grabs

Two of Toowoomba’s iconic business drawcards could soon have new owners.

The two properties, the Toowoomba Sunset Superbowl Entertainment Complex and Centrepoint at James Street, are being sold through international Expression of Interest campaigns.

The time period for both the Expression of Interest campaigns, which were both being run by Brisbane-based Savills young gun Joe Maloney, has now expired, allowing any serious negotiations to start.

The Toowoomba Sunset Superbowl Entertainment Complex, which sits on a 0.87ha parcel of land at 527 South Street, is being sold as a going concern business for the first time since the bowling alley opened its doors in 1997.

According to Savills, Sunset Superbowl is the “dominant 10-pin bowling and entertainment facility” in the Toowoomba region.

It features 24 bowling lanes, 40 arcade game machines, a commercial-grade kitchen & café and a fully licensed bar & function room.

The property includes a purpose-built building of around 2400 sqm and a car park for about 75 cars.

Meanwhile, the Centrepoint shopping centre, which has eight tenants including Totally WorkWear, Choices Flooring, Prices Plus and Pillow Talk, is generating its current owners more than $1.2 million in rental revenue.

The property comprises a building with 7406 sqm of floor area and 166 car spaces on a 1.17-hectare site at 227-231 James Street.

The site features a flexible “Mixed-Use” zoning which allows for a range of uses including Retail, Business, Service Industry, Residential and Low Impact Industrial.

According to Savills, the property has “an attractive rental growth profile with all tenancies featuring fixed annual rental increases of between 2.5 per cent and 3.5 per cent”.

Toowoomba Minute contacted Joe Maloney but he declined to comment.
