What’s happening?
To mark the reopening of its newly refurbished Toowoomba office, Creevey Horrell Lawyers is raffling a stunning 10.85-carat Queensland boulder opal to raise funds for the Common Ground Foundation (CGF).
The event will take place on November 27 at the firm’s Kitchener Street office in East Toowoomba. The opal, valued at $4,500 and sourced from Evert Opals in Winton, will help fund accommodation for rural families needing to travel to Toowoomba for medical care.
Why it matters
The fundraiser will directly support the CGF, which provides emergency and low-cost accommodation for regional families accessing hospital services in Toowoomba. Many rural patients must travel over 50 kilometres for medical treatment, often facing the added stress and expense of finding temporary housing.

Local impact
The funds raised will help maintain affordable housing for rural families visiting Toowoomba’s key hospitals, including Toowoomba Hospital, St. Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, and St Vincent’s Private Hospital. It’s a small gesture that delivers significant relief to those facing health challenges far from home.

“It’s fantastic that we can accommodate up to three families travelling for medical treatment in Toowoomba, but financial support is vital to keep this initiative going,” she said.
