What’s happening?

The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Australia season officially begins this weekend with the PBR Monster Energy Tour Scone Invitational in Scone, New South Wales. This marks the first event on the road to the 2025 Grand Finals. Queensland riders are leading the charge, including world number one Brady Fielder, while the competition will also feature juniors and rising stars.

PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young emphasised the season’s importance, saying, “This weekend is the PBR Monster Energy Tour Scone Invitational, the first event of the Monster Energy Tour as the road to 2025 Grand Finals in Townsville begins. There’s only nine opportunities between now and Origin to qualify for the hotly contested Origin series.”

Why it matters?

Australia’s PBR competition is a vital pathway for developing world-class bull riders. With top talent emerging from Queensland and other states, the sport provides structured training, global opportunities, and a pathway to the prestigious U.S. PBR circuit. “We’re incredibly proud of the talent coming out of PBR Australia,” said Glen Young.

The event also showcases Australia’s standing in the global bull riding community, where riders like Brady Fielder continue to make history. Fielder’s recent achievement as the world’s number one bull rider marks the first time an Australian has held this title since Troy Dunn in 1997.
