A 45-year-old man who was shot by a police officer at a North Toowoomba home on Monday was armed with a knife, police say.
Police went to the property on Ruthven Street around 4.40pm Monday to speak to a man in relation to an assault case.
A 45-year-old man armed with a knife came at police and was shot in the chest, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
He has been transported to Toowoomba Hospital and remains in a critical condition, police said. He is yet to be charged with any crimes.
Two officers received minor injuries and were treated at hospital.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
