The Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery is gearing up for a festive celebration of local art and culture with the Carnival Queens exhibition.

This event marks the 75th anniversary of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, a beloved annual event that brings colour and joy to the region.

The exhibition invites local artists to showcase their creativity through works inspired by the themes “Carnival Queens” and “It’s a Party.”

A Canvas of Creativity

Local artists have the chance to submit up to three new works in any medium, drawing inspiration from the vibrant themes of the Carnival of Flowers.

The gallery is set to transform into a visual feast that captures the essence of the carnival, from its stunning blooms to the elegance of its queens.

A Celebration of Local Talent

The Carnival Queens exhibition offers a platform for emerging and established artists alike, with the opportunity to have their work featured in the gallery.

Each successful artist will receive payment according to NAVA rates for the loan of their work in this non-selling exhibition.

Important Dates and Details

Artists interested in participating should submit their Expression of Interest by 30 June 2024. The exhibition will be on display from 24 August to 17 November 2024, giving visitors ample time to explore and appreciate the stunning collection.

Uniting Art and Culture

The Carnival Queens exhibition not only celebrates the artistic talent of the region but also the rich heritage of Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers.

This initiative reinforces the importance of supporting local artists and fostering a thriving cultural scene in the area.
