What’s happening?

Two Toowoomba landmarks will illuminate purple and blue to mark Feeding Tube Awareness Week, which runs from 1 to 7 February 2026.

Victoria Street Bridge, between Russell and Ruthven Streets, will light up purple and blue across the full awareness week.
The Annex at the rear of City Hall will also be illuminated, displaying purple during the same period.

Feeding Tube Awareness Week is being marked across Australia and New Zealand, with landmarks lighting up to raise awareness of tube feeding and the people who rely on it.

Why it matters

Feeding Tube Awareness Week aims to improve understanding of tube feeding and provide reliable information and support.

Tube feeding, also known as enteral nutrition, delivers essential nourishment directly into the stomach or small intestine through a feeding tube.
It is used by people who cannot eat or drink by mouth, or who need additional nutritional support.

People of all ages use feeding tubes, including babies, children, teenagers and adults.

Local impact

Toowoomba’s participation places the city alongside communities across Queensland and beyond taking part in the Light Up campaign.

The illuminated landmarks are intended to prompt local conversations and show visible support for people living with feeding tubes.

Residents are encouraged to visit the landmarks during the light-up period and share photos to help raise awareness.

By the numbers

  • Feeding Tube Awareness Week runs for seven days, from 1 to 7 February 2026, with Toowoomba landmarks lit during this period.

  • More than 140 landmarks across Australia and New Zealand are illuminating purple and blue as part of the campaign.

  • Two Toowoomba locations, Victoria Street Bridge and the City Hall Annex, are participating in the 2026 Light Up campaign.

Zoom in

Feeding Tube Awareness Week in Australia and New Zealand is hosted by ausEE Inc., Australia’s national support and patient advocacy organisation for eosinophilic diseases.

ausEE Inc. CEO Sarah Gray explained the meaning behind the campaign colours.

“Purple is a common colour of feeding tube supplies, while blue represents what flows through the tube — whether that’s formula, blended foods, breastmilk, or water.”

Throughout the week, ausEE will share a series of #MyTubie stories across its social media platforms.
A free Virtual Education Program will also run, releasing new daily video content from tube feeding specialists and people with lived experience.

“At the time, a feeding tube felt like the beginning of the end. But now I know better. It was, in fact, the beginning of living,” said Jessie, who is sharing her story as part of the 2026 campaign.

Zoom out

Across Queensland, landmarks, bridges and public spaces are lighting up in purple and blue, or purple only where single colours are available.

Some locations are illuminated for the entire week, while others light up on Tuesday 3 February, known as #TubieTuesday.

The Light Up campaign is designed to reach more people and increase awareness through visible public displays.
