Toowoomba student explores Entrepreneurship in Perfect Pitch

What’s happening?

Cassandra Millar, a Year 11 student from OneSchool Global’s (OSG) Toowoomba campus, is representing the local community in the global Perfect Pitch competition.

This innovative challenge, inspired by the reality TV show Shark Tank, invites students to work in teams to develop business ideas and present professional pitches.

The top seven teams will progress to a final round in early February, where they’ll pitch live via Zoom to a panel of business leaders.

Why it Matters?

Perfect Pitch nurtures critical entrepreneurial skills such as creativity, collaboration, and business acumen among students.

The competition aligns with OSG’s learning-to-learn framework, fostering self-directed study and empowering students to achieve their potential.

Simon Beaumont, OSG Australia Regional Principal, emphasised, “We want our students to broaden their horizons and know that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to, and Perfect Pitch is designed to support that. May the best idea win!”

Local Impact

Cassandra’s participation shines a spotlight on Toowoomba’s youth talent, reflecting the broader potential of students in the region to excel on an international stage.

Cassandra shared her excitement, saying, “I wanted to take part in this competition because I knew that it would give me invaluable business experiences, and the chance to meet and collaborate with people from all over the world. I’m most looking forward to pitching the product and seeing how the judges respond to our idea.”

By the Numbers

  • 100 students from OneSchool Global worldwide are competing in Perfect Pitch.
  • Participants are organised into 20 teams of five, each tasked with creating an innovative business idea.
  • OSG operates 31 campuses across Australia, supporting over 2,450 students nationwide.

Zoom In

Cassandra’s team will develop a business plan and produce a short promotional video.

The pitch will include a proposed start-up investment amount and a percentage of the business offered in return, mimicking the Shark Tank format.

Zoom Out

Perfect Pitch extends beyond Australian borders, bringing together students from New Zealand, Argentina, Barbados, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

This global reach enhances cultural exchange and collaboration, key to fostering entrepreneurial resilience.

What to Look For Next?

Finalists will be announced in early February 2024.

The successful teams will then present their ideas live via Zoom to a panel of business leaders, engaging in a dynamic Q&A session to test their pitches.
