What’s Happening?

Toowoomba volunteers helped support Camp Quality’s esCarpade 2026, a weeklong charity driving event that raised more than $1 million for the organisation.

The convoy travelled through southern Queensland and northern New South Wales, starting in Mooloolaba and finishing in Tweed Heads.

Rapid Relief Team volunteers from Toowoomba and Ipswich provided food for drivers and support crews during the journey.

Why It Matters

The event brought together drivers, support crews and volunteers to raise money for Camp Quality’s work with children and families affected by cancer.

Rapid Relief Team Toowoomba Local Team Leader George Millar welcomed the opportunity to contribute.

“RRT was delighted to serve breakfast to the colourful esCarpade convoy on day two of their journey in Toowoomba,”said George.

Local Impact

Toowoomba hosted a breakfast stop on the convoy’s second day, with local volunteers preparing food for participants.

Millar said the event created a lively atmosphere for everyone involved.

“The energy was electric and everyone was smiling, especially our 11 RRT volunteers as they cooked up 170 burgers and 50 cereal bowls.”

The local team’s contribution formed part of the wider volunteer effort supporting the fundraiser.

By The Numbers

  • 64 vehicles: Took part in the esCarpade journey through southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.
  • 150 meals: Served by Ipswich volunteers during the convoy’s final day.
  • More than 16,500 volunteers: Rapid Relief Team’s wider volunteer network.

Zoom In

While the Toowoomba team provided breakfast, Ipswich volunteers supported the convoy on its final day.

Six volunteers served morning and afternoon teas as participants completed their journey.

Both teams contributed to the event’s food service arrangements, helping support drivers and crews along the route.

Zoom Out

Rapid Relief Team began in 2013 to provide meals and other assistance to emergency services during disasters and crises.

The organisation has since expanded its activities to include community events, charitable donations and support for frontline workers.

It operates as the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

Millar also recognised Camp Quality’s contribution to families affected by cancer.

“RRT congratulates Camp Quality on this fantastic initiative and thanks them for all the work they do to brighten the lives of kids and families impacted by cancer.”

What To Look For Next?
