Walk to Remember unites families in love and remembrance

Walk to Remember Toowoomba

What’s happening?

The Toowoomba community will gather for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Month at the Walk to Remember on Saturday, 18 October 2025. The event will take place at Laurel Bank Park, with arrivals from 9.30am and the ceremony beginning at 10am.

The Walk to Remember invites all bereaved families and their loved ones to remember babies and children by taking the “steps” they never got to take.

The event includes:

  • A remembrance service with readings and reflections from local bereaved families

  • An opportunity for everyone to publicly share the names of their little ones

  • A Pinwheel Ceremony to reflect and remember

  • The symbolic Walk to Remember, a short loop through the gardens

  • Time for connection with other bereaved families

Why it matters

The Walk to Remember began as a way for families who have experienced the loss of a baby or child to meet together in remembrance, love, and connection.

Red Nose annual Walks to Remember are about making connections while honouring the love and loss that we all share,” organisers said.

Local impact

Attendees can expect to see larger family groups, siblings, and children joining the Walk. Alongside the remembrance service, there will be joyful elements such as bubbles, cakes, face painting, and butterflies. The event offers a chance to reflect on the sorrow of loss while remembering the joy that children brought.

By the numbers

  • Tickets start at $10, and each one includes a pinwheel for the remembrance service.

  • The price is capped at $30 for groups of three or more, keeping the event affordable for families.

  • The Walk to Remember includes one symbolic loop through the Laurel Bank Park gardens in honour of babies and children.

  • One pinwheel is provided with each ticket, except for child tickets, while children under three can attend for free.

Zoom in

Participants are encouraged to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and a chair or picnic blanket. Families are also welcome to bring an item to place on the remembrance table during the service.

Tickets are discounted for Heart Strings members using a code from their welcome letter. Sponsored tickets are also available for those experiencing financial difficulty.

Event t-shirts are available through Above Byron Printing, who donate a portion of sales to Red Nose. Orders must be placed at least three weeks before the Walk, with additional time recommended for WA and remote areas.

Zoom out

The Walk to Remember is part of Red Nose’s annual remembrance events held nationwide. The Toowoomba gathering will bring together families, friends, and community members to focus on enduring love for babies and children who died, and the milestones never reached.

What to look for next

Shirt orders must be placed early to ensure delivery before the event. On 18 October, the community will walk together at Laurel Bank Park, honouring children with love, remembrance, and connection.
