What’s Happening?

Toowoomba locals are invited to Warm Your Heart: Soup & Chant Night, a free, one-night-only community event happening on Saturday, 24 May, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Groom Park Hall.

Hosted by the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga (ASMY) and The Mantra Room, the event promises an uplifting evening of live music, mantra meditation, and a hearty, plant-based soup feast to nourish body and soul.

Why It Matters

As the cooler autumn nights set in, this event provides a welcoming and heart-centred retreat. Guests can unwind in a peaceful setting, enjoy soothing live kirtan music, and engage in mindfulness practices proven to reduce stress and promote wellbeing. “We’re creating a sanctuary where people can find comfort, connection, and inner peace,” said event organiser Janina Stokes. “Whether you’re new to meditation or have been practicing for years, this is a space to relax, let go, and experience the joy of kirtan.”

Local Impact

The event supports mental wellbeing, inclusivity, and cultural enrichment in Toowoomba by bringing together individuals from all walks of life in a shared space of connection. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to ensure enough meals for all. Donations on the night will support future community wellness programmes delivered by ASMY.

By the Numbers

  • Over 6 ASMY centres operate across Australia, offering authentic and holistic yoga and meditation experiences.

  • Kirtan meditation is a practice known to significantly reduce cortisol levels, boosting emotional wellbeing.

  • ASMY’s community events, including similar Soup & Chant Nights, have drawn hundreds of participants nationwide, proving their wide appeal and benefit.

Zoom In

The event’s venue, Groom Park Hall (104C Neil Street, South Toowoomba), will transform into a sanctuary of sacred sound and shared warmth. Guests will enjoy a free plant-based soup dinner while participating in interactive kirtan, a form of mantra meditation that combines live music, melody and sacred sound. Whether you clap, sway, sing along, or simply listen, you’ll be welcomed with open arms into this joyful, grounding practice.

Zoom Out

This Toowoomba event is part of a broader initiative by The Australian School of Meditation and Yoga, a non-profit organisation that brings ancient practices into modern life. With locations in Brisbane, Darwin, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, ASMY aims to empower individuals to live balanced, healthy, and spiritually connected lives.
