Where Olive Trees Grow: local Queensland author debut

I will admit that I read a lot of books, and small-town romance isn’t usually one of my preferred genres. However, it’s hard to resist reading the debut novel of a local Toowoomba author, Asha Rose and having the opportunity to hype it up. It did not disappoint.

The story is full of hope, love, nature and nostalgia, and has you on the edge of your seat rooting for the main couple in the story to finally get together.

It starts out rather typically, but a tragic twist sees main character Cadie running from her grief and trying to start a new life far away, leaving behind a boy that is grieving the same loss.

Over a time span of many years, career growth, and not enough therapy, Cadie returns to her hometown and the weight of what she lost and what was left behind.

Without giving too many spoilers away, the series of near misses, will they or won’t theys, side romances, and shocks has left me thinking about this book long after I finished it.

If you’re in the mood for a cosy and surprisingly emotional read from a talented new local author on the scene, then I highly recommend Where Olive Trees Grow.”
