Queensland Police Service has launched Safer Together Toowoomba, a community-led crime prevention program running until January 2025 to address concerns around burglary, vehicle theft, and youth crime through engagement and local safety champions.

Newtown Lions kicked out of league competition

The Toowoomba Rugby League has announced that is has terminated the membership of the Newtown Lions Football Club. Toowoomba Rugby League chairman Joe Hannant said the decision followed a review of Newtown’s 2024 season performance and its ongoing capacity to meet competition requirements. “After a review, which included a discussion with a Newtown representative, we decided to terminate Newtown’s membership with the TRL,’’ Hannant said in a statement release on the TRL’s Facebook page. “We thank Newtown for their recent participation and wish them well in the future.” Newtown Lions had planned to host its AGM on Tuesday this week but the club postponed the meeting until Sunday, November 17.
