Thirsty Merc, Pete Murray, Kate Ceberano and James Reyne will join other leading and local sound-makers at Queens Park’s sumptuous celebration for all things food and wine. Pete Murray, known for his hit songs “Better Days”, “Feeler”, “So Beautiful” and “Opportunity” says his music continues to serve as the soundtrack for so many of his fans. “I’ve always prided myself on writing good lyrics, and I’m respected for what I write because my songs tend to make people think about where they are compared to where they wanna

Ambulance officers honoured for their bravery

Six ambulance officers have received awards for bravery for attempting to save the life of Toowoomba police officer after he had been shot by a gun man in 2017. Nicholas Anthony Abussi, Adam Ross Flory, Steven John Apthorp, Douglas McKenzie, Maria Frances Mourilyan, Lay Jane Ong and Jamieson Woods all have received commendations for brave conduct in relation to the shocking incident. The six officers were sent to Gatton the afternoon of May 29, 2017 after fugitive Ricky Maddison shot police officer Senior Constable Brett Forte was shot . Despite being urged to take cover because Maddison was still shooting, the six ambulance officers attempted to save Snr Const Forte’s life. Police shoot knife-wielding man

A 45-year-old man who was shot by a police officer at a North Toowoomba home on Monday was armed with a knife, police say. Police went to the property on Ruthven Street around 4.40pm Monday to speak to a man in relation to an assault case. A 45-year-old man armed with a knife came at police and was shot in the chest, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. He has been transported to Toowoomba Hospital and remains in a critical condition, police said. He is yet to be charged with any crimes. Two officers received minor injuries and were treated at hospital. The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption

Toowoomba Regional Council has released its draft Toowoomba Region Road Safety Strategy 2024-2028, which is designed to reduce road trauma in the region.
